Getting to the Zugspitze

Cogwheel train, Zugspitze cable car & Gletscherbahn cable car

Germany‘s highest peak can be easily reached by cable car and cogwheel train.

The cogwheel train of Bayerische Zugspitzbahn starts its journey at the Zugspitzbahn station in Garmisch, and ride ends at the Zugspitze plateau Gletscherbahn station at 2,588 metres. At the intermediate stations Hausberg, Kreuzeck-/Alpspitzbahn, Hammersbach, Grainau and Eibsee, it is easy to get on and off.

The valley station of the Zugspitze cable car is located between the Zugspitzbahn station Eibsee and the idyllic Lake Eibsee. From there, the world-record-holding cable car takes Zugspitze visitors up to the Zugspitze summit in as little as 10 minutes.

The Gletscherbahn cable car runs every 10 minutes between the Zugspitze plateau and the Zugspitze summit.
