for families, explorers & sports enthusiasts

The mountain railways of Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG take visitors to the starting points of numerous leisure activities. 

The following ones are open in summer:

  • On the Zugspitze: the cogwheel train, the Gletscherbahn cable car and the Zugspitze cable car
  • In the Garmisch-Classic area: the Alpspitzbahn, Hochalmbahn and Kreuzeckbahn cable cars
  • On Mount Wank: the Wankbahn cable car

on the Zugspitze, on Mount Wank and in the Garmisch-Classic area

On the Zugspitze, visitors can discover the unique world of the glacier. Glacier tours and the Glacier Trail allow visitors to find out more about the flora and fauna of this natural phenomenon. If there is enough snow, the toboggan run on the Zugspitze plateau can also be used in summer. 

Highlights for families in the Garmisch-Classic area:  The Natursteig Osterfelder is an alpine themed trail that combines nature knowledge with exercise elements from Felix Neureuther's “Beweg dich schlau!” initiative. The AlpspiX viewing platform offers a unique view of the surrounding mountains. 

Top activities on the “panoramic mountain”: On Mount Wank, a playground in natural design awaits young adventurers. In summer, guests can enjoy varied hiking routes, challenging trails and entertaining events.

Tip: Numerous restaurants invite visitors to stop for a bite to eat or to have something to drink.
