For optimal travel planning: all information on the opening times of all cable cars and timetable of the cogwheel train.
Please note: In spring and autumn, regular maintenance work is carried out. During these times, the cable cars might be out of operation.

Zugspitze

All opening times and timetables for the cable cars and cogwheel train on Zugspitze. The times listed also apply to public holidays (e.g. Christmas or New Year).

During the listed maintenance times the corresponding cable car is completely closed (the first and last day of maintenance is stated). Inspection times may be subject to change at short notice (e.g. due to bad weather).
In autumn, Zugspitze is completely closed from 10.11.–14.11., 17.11.–21.11. und 24.11.–27.11.2025.

The ski season on Zugspitze will start on 28.11.2025 at the earliest.

Cogwheel train valley route

The cogwheel train valley route is closed. A rail replacement service will be set up: Monday to Friday between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau, Saturday and Sunday between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Eibsee.

The stop Hausberg will not be served. For Hammersbach an alternative stop will be set up at the junction Zugspitzstraße/Höllentalstraße. Due to the longer driving time of the bus, there may be delays in the timetable.

Information on the Deutschland-Ticket

The Deutschland-Ticket is only valid on the valley route of the cogwheel train from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Grainau. To continue to lake Eibsee or Zugspitze a separate ticket must be purchased.
The Deutschland-Ticket is not valid in cable cars.
A discount on the mountain railway ticket is not possible with the Deutschland-Ticket.
Transport with the Deutschland-Ticket on the cogwheel train and Eibseebus is only possible if the number of guests allows it. At weekends and during holidays, it is likely that demand will exceed the existing capacity of the trains and buses and therefore not all people can be carried.
Please note that guests with a valid mountain railway ticket have priority when traveling with the cogwheel train.

Garmisch-Classic

The ski season in Garmisch-Classic area is expected to start in mid-December.
