Early Bird to Zugspitze
July 12th to August 31st 2026
Without waiting times and with a discounted ticket, Early Bird guests can take the first train ride of the day up Germany's highest mountain. After arriving at the plateau Zugspitze, guests can expect a coffee, tea, hot chocolate or a croissant in the restaurants Gletscher 2600, Sonnalpin or Panorama 2962 (summit station).
Afterwards, you can choose from various activities: Whether a selfie with the golden summit cross, a glacier hike or a toboggan run on natural snow. Arrange your visit to Zugspitze the way you like it – long before the lively visitor activity begins during the main holiday season of the year.
You can then reach the Zugspitze summit with the 360° panoramic view over four countries with the Gletscherbahn cable car, which you can use as often as you like on your day of visit. You can return to the valley individually, with the cogwheel train or with the Cable car Zugspitze.
Schedules
From July 12th to August 31st, the cogwheel train runs every day at 7:39 a.m. from Zugspitzbahn station Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Boarding at other stations or stops, as well as transferring to the Cable car Zugspitze, is not possible during the ascent.
The descent is included in the ticket and is done individually. The last descent is possible at 4:30 p.m. via the cogwheel train and at 5:45 p.m. via Cable car Zugspitze.
Booking
- Prices Early Bird train: Adult 70,00 € | Child (6–18 years) 16,00 €
- Tickets for the Early Bird train are only available in the webshop. Sale ends at 8.00 p.m. the evening before, or as soon as the quota for the respective day is exhausted.
- There is a train binding. An exchange of tickets for journeys at a later point in time on the booked day is only possible with a surcharge on our regular fares.
- Changes or cancellations due to bad weather or illness are not possible. Please check the weather forecast before buying. If it is not used, the ticket expire.
You will receive a booking confirmation by email with the train ticket and a voucher for the hot drink. The ticket can be scanned at the entrance, the voucher must be presented at the cash desk in the restaurant.
