Tickets

Tickets are usually still available at the ticket counters on site. However, the daily quota may be exhausted, especially on fair-weather days, weekends and during public holidays. We therefore recommend buying tickets in our online shop in advance if possible.

No. The purchase of an online ticket does not include a seat reservation for a specific time. To avoid waiting times, we recommend that you start your ascent as early as possible on good weather days.

Tickets purchased are only valid on the date booked. A refund or rebooking of tickets due to bad weather is not possible. We therefore recommend checking the weather forecast before buying the tickets.

With a day-specific online ticket, guests can secure their ride in advance. If the daily quota is exhausted on days with good weather, vacations days or public holidays, ticket sales will be stopped both online and at the ticket offices.

There is no limited duration of stay on the mountain. Our regular opening hours apply.

On good-weather days, weekends and during holidays, there may be waiting times at the valley stations and in the restaurants. Our team on site will be happy to inform you about the current situation.

We recommend arriving as early as possible on fair-weather days to avoid waiting times. With an online ticket, transport is guaranteed in any case, even if ticket sales have to be discontinued.

A refund for not using the ticket for personal reasons is not possible. If you are unable to travel due to illness, please send a doctor’s certificate to zugspitzbahn@zugspitze.de. Please also include your full name and ticket number(s). We will check your details as soon as possible and refund the ticket price if necessary.

A refund due to bad weather is not possible.

Tickets for one-way trips (ascent or descent) can only be purchased at the ticket offices on site. Descent tickets for climbers are always available at the ticket office at the top station, even if the sale of regular tickets has already been discontinued.

With the Ticket Zugspitze, you can use the cogwheel train, Cable car Zugspitze and Gletscherbahn cable car. The ticket includes one ascent and one descent, which can be taken either as a Round Trip on the Cable car Zugspitze or the cogwheel train. You can use the Gletscherbahn cable car as often as you please on the day of your visit.

The Garmischer Sommer-Ticket and the Ski-Ticket are available from Deutsche Bahn at DB ticket machines, in DB travel centres and in the ticket shop. When you present your ticket at one of our ticket offices, you will receive the mountain railway ticket you booked.
