More lifts open at Christmas

22/12/2022

During the Christmas holidays, further facilities open in the Garmisch-Classic and on the Zugspitze.

Garmisch-Classic

In the Garmisch-Classic area, the Kreuzeckbahn cable car and the Hexenkessel lift can also go into operation from December 23rd. In addition, two more valley runs will be opened with the Olympia and Kandahar run.

From December 25th, the Alpspitzbahn and Hochalmbahn cable cars will also be open - due to the low snow conditions in the Alpspitz area, initially only for pedestrians and ski tourers. Tobogganers and piste skiers may not be transported for insurance reasons. For pedestrians the AlpspiX viewing platform and the Hochalmweg between Kreuzeck and Hochalm as a winter hiking trail are open.

The ascent trail for ski tourers at Hausberg will remain open for as long as possible. However, due to the lack of snow, the trail may have to be closed during the holidays.

You can find up-to-date information on the open facilities in the live area.

Zugspitze

The Weißes Tal lift has also been open on the Zugspitze since December 22nd. This means that four of the five ski lifts and ten slopes are open.

The glacier trail with the family toboggan run on the Zugspitzplatt is open to pedestrians and tobogganers.

It is recommended to buy tickets for the Zugspitze in advance in the online shop, as ticket sales may be stopped if there is a large number of visitors.

You can find up-to-date information on the open facilities in the live area.

Parking

The new parking fees will come into effect on December 23rd. This means that parking in all parking areas of the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn costs € 5.00 per day. More information can be found at zugspitze.de/parking.

The parking lot at the Wankbahn is closed on 1st and 4th January 2023 completely closed due to the New Year's ski jumping and the night slalom at Gudiberg.
