Germany’s highest peak in summer

This is no exaggeration: The 2,962 metres high Zugspitze is a mountain of superlatives. Germany’s highest elevation is home to three glaciers, a unique 360° panorama including mountain peaks from four countries and an attractive range of activities.

Once at the summit, an impressive 360 ° panorama opens up. The ultimate feeling of freedom at the Zugspitze summit is simply indescribable. In fair weather, views extend over a sea of 400 peaks in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The golden summit cross near the viewing terrace is also a popular photo opportunity.

Glacier up close: activities in the eternal ice

A level lower at 2,600 metres, the Zugspitz Plateau has excursion and refreshment options to suit everyone. By the Gletscherbahn cable car from the summit or the cogwheel train from the station at Eibsee, guests from all over the world can easily get hands-on with the glacier. Invigorating activities in the summer: zoom down the natural snow on a Zipfelbob sledge, explore the Glacier Adventure Trail, climb in the Zugspitze Alpinpark, and visit the "Maria Heimsuchung" chapel.
