Ski operation in Garmisch-Classic starts with 2G

14/12/2021

On 16. December the first ski lifts and slopes between Kreuzeck and Hausberg open after 1.5 years.

The Garmisch-Classic ski area will start on December 16, 2021 with the Hausberg and Kreuzeck cable cars, the Kreuzwankl-Ski-Express, the Kandahar-Express, the Hexenkessel lift and the Trögl lifts. Also the children's area and the Rimmlermoos lifts can be opened. With the Kandahar and the Kochelberg run, two valley runs are also possible, the Olympic run is open up to the Kandahar Express.

Hygiene concept with 2G proof and FFP2 mask

The ski operation takes place with strict 2G controls as well as a mandatory FFP2 mask requirement in all closed rooms, in cable car cabins and the cogwheel train as well as queuing and waiting areas. When purchasing tickets at the cash desks, guests must present 2G proof (vaccinated or recovered) in connection with an identification document. The 2G regulation and mask requirement continue to apply in the restaurants until guest are seated at the table.
The capacities of all cable cars are reduced. Large cabins (such as the Alpspitzbahn and Hochalmbahn in the Garmisch-Classic area as well as the Cable car Zugspitze and the Gletscherbahn cable car) may only be operated at 25% capacity. The smaller cable car cabins in the Garmisch-Classic (Kreuzeck and Hausbergbahn) can be used to 75%. On the other hand, there are no restrictions for open chair lifts and T-bar lifts. The Bayerische Zugspitzbahn expects waiting times due to the severe capacity restrictions (especially for large cabins).

NEW in Garmisch-Classic: Modern Kreuzeckzubringer, Ixis Kinderland and T-Bar

With the modernization of the Kreuzeckzubringer guests can look forward to more comfort: the rope lift has been replaced by a modern conveyor belt. Guests can now comfortably take the last few meters in the direction of Kreuzeck using the conveyor belt.
The new T-Bar opens directly at the Garmischer Haus to increase the number of outdoor dining options in the area. Snacks and drinks are available quickly and easily to go.
Next to the Garmischer Haus, also “Ixis Kinderland” was redesigned in cooperation with the DSLV and the former ski racer Felix Neureuther. The characters from his popular children's book accompany the kids through all stations.

2G proof for season and annual ticket holders

Annual and season pass holder can link the 2G proof to the ski pass so that only a one-time activation is necessary. We recommend doing this now in order to avoid waiting times later. Activation is possible at the following cash registers:
