On April 7, the Wankbahn cable car starts the summer season.

The Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG starts the summer operation of the first cable car almost without a break after the end of the ski season in the Garmisch-Classic area (last day of operation: April 2): The Wankbahn cable car will be opened from Easter holidays on April 7. The Wankbahn cable car team was able to successfully carry out all the necessary maintenance work as early as March.

Restaurants open on Mount Wank

With the start of the summer season on Mount Wank, also the restaurants will open on April 7. The Wankstüberl, directly in the valley station of the Wankbahn cable (from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and the Sonnenalm in the mountain station of the Wankbahn (from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) are then open daily.
There is a combination ticket for breakfast guests, which includes a ascent and descent with the Wankbahn cable car, a breakfast dish and a daily newspaper. Booking is only possible online at zugspitze.de/Events.

Please note: The Sonnenalm terrace is expected to be closed from April 17until the end of May due to construction work.

Spring revision completed

The early season start of the Wankbahn cable car is possible because the planned revision work was completed early. This year's work included scheduled refurbishment work on the sheave assemblies, bolts and bushings. The fire alarm system was also successfully replaced and acceptance will take place in the next few days.
The replacement of the heating system at the mountain station and the renovation of the terrace of the Sonnenalm restaurant are still pending. Therefore there may be restrictions on the terrace from mid-April.

Parking regulations and tariffs

The parking tariffs remain the same at five euros per day. New is the opportunity for season and annual pass holders to purchase a summer parking ticket for 45 euros (valid at all company-owned parking lots, with the exception of the parking areas at lake Eibsee). If season pass holders have already purchased a winter park ticket 2022/2023, an additional payment of only 15 euros is required to be able to use the parking spaces until the start of the next ski season.
