Zugspitze starts the ski season with fantastic conditions
The Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG opens this year's winter season with the Zugspitze on Friday, December 1, 2023.
Due to the heavy snowfall in the past few days, the Sonnenkar chairlift, the Wetterwandeck chairlift and the Weißes Tal ski lift with all associated slopes (no. 1-8) can go into operation in the natural snow ski area on Germany's highest mountain. The glacier hiking trail and the family toboggan run will be open to pedestrians.
The Ticket Zugspitze (pedestrians and skiers) costs 62.00 euros for adults. As part of the family discount, an adult and two children (up to and including 18 years) pay 110 euros for a day of skiing together. With the Twin-Ticket (2 days within one season, Garmisch-Classic or Zugspitze can be freely selected) guests can save: Online the Twin-Ticket costs 110 euros, so 55 euros per day of skiing.
In the Garmisch-Classic ski area, depending on snow conditions, the season is planned to start in mid-December, but at the latest by the start of the holidays on December 22nd.
Rail replacement service on the valley route
Track construction work are taking place on the valley section of the cogwheel train (between Garmisch and Kreuzeck) until December 15th. On this route, train journeys will be replaced by buses. From Kreuzeck there is a scheduled train service to Eibsee and on to Sonnalpin in the Zugspitze ski area.
