Skiing & snowboarding
The ski runs at the Zugspitze ski area are located on the slopes of three mountains: Schneefernerkopf (2,874 m), Wetterwandeck (2,698 m) and Zugspitze or Zugspitze plateau (2,600 m).
The benefits of the ski area at a glance
- Long ski season: from the beginning of December to the beginning of May (depending on snow conditions)
- 20 kilometres of snow-sure ski runs: Due to its altitude, the Zugspitze offers optimal conditions for natural snow – which forms the basis for perfectly groomed ski runs.
- Different levels of difficulty: ski runs for beginners, advanced skiers and pros
- Ski lessons: in groups or privately, for children or adults
- Ski rental: Equipment for skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing is available at one of the numerous ski hire stations.
- Various refreshment stops with beautiful sundecks: Restaurant Sonnalpin, Gletscher 2600 and Panorama 2962
Ski passes for the Zugspitze
Ski passes and day tickets are available online or at the ticket counters at the valley stations. Our tip: the Twin Ticket – a special two-day combination ticket for one day each in the Zugspitze ski area and the Garmisch-Classic ski area.
Mountain railways
The cable cars of Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG take winter sports enthusiasts safely up the mountain – and back down again if they wish.

Tobogganing on the Zugspitze
There are toboggan runs for the whole family on the Zugspitze. Bob sledges, wooden sledges and helmets can all be rented at the ski hire on the Zugspitze plateau.
