Trip to the Zugspitze

Top of Germany!

There are mountains of opportunities on summer days at the Zugspitze:

GERMANY’S HIGHEST PEAK

Let your gaze wander 360° over 400 alpine peaks in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, enjoy an exciting glacier walk or treat yourself to some thrilling tobogganing fun on a natural snow track. Yet another highlight can be experienced in summer 2017: Work on the new Zugspitze cable car, which is to be officially opened on 21st December 2017, will be in full swing over the coming months – parallel to regular hours of operation. During construction work, Zugspitze visitors are therefore offered the rare opportunity to witness a technical masterpiece in the making and experience Germany’s most spectacular building site at first hand.

By cogwheel train & Gletscherbahn cable car to the peak.

Due to decommissioning of the Eibsee-Seilbahn cable car, Zugspitze visitors can only access Germany’s highest peak with the cogwheel train and Gletscherbahn cable car as from 3rd April 2017. Bayerische Zugspitzbahn trains operate between the Eibsee train station and the Zugspitzplatt station at half hour intervals. Please refer to our timetable for detailed information on the new travel times.
