Garmisch-Classic in Summer
Discover the magic of the mountains
Locals and visitors alike appreciate the mountain hiking and recreational areas amidst the Alpspitze, Kreuzeck and Hausberg – all made accessible by the Bayerischen Zugspitzbahn.
Whichever way you look, there are pure natural landscapes and exciting places to go such as the AlpspiX viewing platform, the Summit Adventure Trail, or the Pleasure Trail at the foot of the imposing Alpspitze Peak, also known as the “Jewel of Werdenfelser Country”.
This cable car tour enables less sure-footed people, families and senior citizens to enjoy the fresh mountain air and breathtaking mountain vistas. The Alpspitzbahn lifts whisk you up to the 2,050 metre high Osterfelderkopf, the starting point for wonderful hiking opportunities suitable for every age group. Then you can take the Hochalmbahn lift down to 1,700 metres, or just walk back down along the idyllic route through alpine meadows (ca. 1 hour).
Starting from the Hochalm, trekkers can hike down the well maintained trail in around 30 minutes to the top station of the Kreuzeckbahn lifts, from where the lift ride to the valley starts. And how about a welcome stop for summer refreshments at Kandahar 2, before catching the hourly rack and pinion rail shuttle service back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen?
